Participation in a Nearly New Sale is very easy, all you have to do is:
- Register as a Seller
- Check the quality of your goods
- Categorise, price tagand bag your goods
- Drop your goods off at a collection point or at the Sale venue if you have larger items
- Pick up any unsold goods after the Sale
- And the best bit, sit back and wait for your cheque to arrive in the mail
This sellers guide expands on the above steps.
1. YOU MUST REGISTER AS A SELLER FOR EACH SALE
- New Sellers – Phone CPEA 4632 2609 to register and obtain a Sellers Reference Number and individually register all larger items for Sale
- Previous Sellers – Phone to re-register and confirm your previous number is still available. Your reference number remains current if you have sold in one of the last three sales.
Items for sale cannot be accepted if the Seller has not registered prior to EACH Sale

2. CHECK QUALITY OF YOUR GOODS
This is a “Nearly New” sale. Items must be clean, in excellent condition and show obvious signs of being well cared for. CPEA reserves the right to disallow any items that do not comply with the Sellers Guide. Go through your goods and check that the quality complies with the following guidelines.
Clothing, Linen and Material Items
- No holes; tears; obvious repairs/patches; excessive pilling, fading; excessive wear and free of stains
- Items must have all buttons; working zippers; hems and seams intact; elastic in good condition
- Items to be washed and sorted into sizes/categories (Refer to notes on “Sorting”)
- Newborn booties/socks and tights for infants, children and maternity will be accepted
- Fluffies, pilchers and bibs will only be accepted when new and in original packaging
- Underwear will not be sold
Toys
- No missing parts (if minor part missing, please state on tag)
- Must function correctly
- If toy requires batteries, state this on tag (it is more likely to sell if you insert new batteries)
- If packaged in bag, write contents on the back of tag
Books
- External cover and all pages must be in good condition
- No rips, tears, drawings or defacements
Videos, CD’s and/or DVD’s
- Sellers responsibility to ensure that tapes are clean and in working order
- No visual or auditory deterioration
Shoes
- Must be attached as pairs – tie laces; put shoes sole to sole with rubber band; tie price tag on with string through eyelets or large safety pin for soft material sided shoes
Furniture
- Cots must meet specific safety standards (details available when registering large items)
- Capsules must have harness restraint
- Anchor point car seats must be hook style
- Try and have all parts included and instruction manual (if possible)
- Note any missing parts on price tag
Previously disallowed items will be accepted if repaired and new tag attached.

3. CATEGORISE YOUR GOODS
After checking the quality of your goods, you need to sort your goods into the following categories:

4. PRICE TAG YOUR GOODS
- Create price tags (5cm x 5cm) using white, thin cardboard (see price tag example below)
- Attach tag to goods with a silver safety pin
- Where pinning is inappropriate, use tape or string eg books, videos, toys
- For 2 or more pieced item eg tracksuit – pin the pants to the jumper, put the detailed tag on jumper and a tag with reference number only on the pants
- Items will only be sold if tag has reference number, description and price on one side of tag
- One detailed tag per item
- For security reasons, prices must be written without correction (no white-out or written alterations)
- CPEA cannot accept paper tags, small tags or tags attached with staples, dress pins or small gold safety pins
- For auditing purposes, all sold tags remain the property of CPEA

5. BAG YOUR GOODS
- After tagging your goods, place the different categories of goods into plastic shopping bags. Use a marker pen to indicate the category on the side of each bag eg. Size 1 or Shoes etc
- Put all marked plastic bags into large striped storage bags (available from discount shops)
- Maximum of 4 large striped bags per seller
- Write seller reference number on the top panel of each striped bag using permanent marker
6. DROP OFF YOUR GOODS
Clothing and Smaller Items
- You will be given the name, address and phone number of your allocated collection point. It is the sellers responsibility to contact the collection point and arrange delivery of items.
- Items must be delivered on or before the Friday week prior to the sale to allow for quality checking and sorting
- All clothes need to be sorted and tagged before being delivered to a Collection Point
- A maximum of 4 large striped bags (available at discount shops) is allowed per seller
- You may supply clothing on hangers but hangers are only returned with unsold items
Larger Items
- Cots, change tables, high chairs, capsules, car seats, prams/strollers, portacots, playpens, bassinettes, bouncers/rockers and larger toys
- Larger items must be registered with the CPEA prior to sale
- All larger items must be delivered to sale venue on the morning of sale between 9.00am – 11.00am

7. SIGN DECLARATION FORM
- Whilst CPEA Toowoomba Inc. takes all care, the Association holds no liability for any loss or damage to items submitted for selling in the Nearly New Sale
- When you deliver your items to the collection point or sale venue, you will be asked to sign a declaration form stating you have read and understood the Seller Guide and you are willing to abide by these Rules
8. PICK UP YOUR UNSOLD GOODS
- CPEA does not hold any unsold items after the designated pick up time
- All unsold items will be available for pick up between 5.30pm – 7.00pm on the Saturday of the sale
Items not collected will be donated to Toowoomba charities by way of collection bins on the Sunday afternoon
9. PAYMENT
- It will take approximately 4 weeks to process sale information and mail cheques
- Sellers receive 75% of the tag price of all sold items
